Furiganar ("we", "our", "the App") is operated by FLUQS. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application.

2. Information We Collect

Images you provide

When you use Furiganar, you take or select a photo containing Japanese text. This image is sent to our server for processing. We do not store your images on our servers. Images are processed in real-time and discarded immediately after the reading results are returned.

Third-party processing

Your images are sent to OpenAI's API (GPT-4o) for text recognition and reading generation. OpenAI's use of this data is governed by OpenAI's API data usage policy. OpenAI does not use data submitted via their API to train their models.

History (stored locally on your device)

The App stores your past results (images and readings) locally on your device for your convenience.
This data is stored only on your device and is not sent to or accessible by us.
History data is automatically deleted after a set period (approximately 1–2 weeks).
You can manually delete individual items or all history at any time.

Information we do NOT collect

We do not require account registration or login.
We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or other personal identifiers.
We do not use cookies or analytics trackers.
We do not collect location data.

3. How We Use Information

We use the images you provide solely to:

Recognize Japanese text in the image
Generate hiragana and romaji readings
Return results to you

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any other purpose.

4. Data Retention

Server-side: Images are not stored. Processing is real-time only.
On your device: History data is retained for approximately 1–2 weeks and can be deleted manually at any time.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties, except:

OpenAI: Images are sent to OpenAI's API for text recognition, as described above.

6. Children's Privacy

Furiganar is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the App or on our website.
